Italian driver Luca Ghiotto scored a phenomenal second position to complete a brilliant comeback weekend for UNI-Virtuosi in Formula 2, while Chinese driver Guan Yu Zhou completed his best weekend yet in his rookie season.
After a podium on Saturday, Zhou fought hard for places in the top five, the hot Barcelona sunshine making tyre management difficult, especially for a rookie driver.
But not only did Zhou dice in the top positions, he made an overtake in the last two laps to take fourth position, adding to his first ever podium in Saturday’s race.
Ghiotto raced to fifth from the back of the pack in Saturday’s race, and while it was more difficult to overtake in Sunday’s conditions, he still moved up from seventh to second picking off drivers almost at will.
Both drivers head to Monaco with the UNI-Virtuosi team in support of the Monte Carlo Grand Prix in two weeks time.
Congratulations to the UNI-Virtuosi team so far this season!
