We’re counting down the days to the start of our Canaryball Rally which aims to raise £100,000 for the Build the Nest project.
Sixteen teams will set off from The Nest in Holt Road, Horsford, near Norwich Airport, on Wednesday, October 9. We’ve organised the 2,200-mile charity challenge across Europe to support the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation (CSF) project for a new multi-purpose community hub.
Anticipation and adrenaline are building after the teams gathered for the final briefing at the Virgin Money Lounge in Norwich. As well as checking out the full itinerary, CSF senior fundraising and events manager Emma Fletcher gave a presentation about The Nest project.
Credo Asset Finance marketing manager Fran Brown said: “The fund raising is going well and all the teams are getting very excited. We really need donations now.
“Credo is all about helping worthy local causes that are close to our team’s heart.”
And, as if driving 2,200 miles is not enough, Fran revealed there would be surprise challenges along the way for the rally teams.
The Credo team – Directors Ian Tims and Simon Gray and Simon’s wife, Tracy – will be driving an Audi saloon from Norwich Audi, part of Robinsons Motor Group. Signs Express has kindly created the graphics and supplied the numbers for all the teams’ cars.
The five-day rally, taking in eight countries and the Alps, goes from Norwich to Milan and back. To mark the 25th anniversary of the Canaries’ 1993-94 UEFA Cup run, they are visiting the three European football grounds Norwich City Football Club played at – Vitesse Arnhem’s Gelre Dome, FC Bayern Munich’s former Olympiastadion and Inter Milan’s Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
The rally teams then have a race experience at the famous Nürburgring track in Germany before heading home the following day.
